About Drea
Hi I'm Drea! I am the Owner and Trainer of Loose Leash Heeler. I have had a love for animals especially dogs, from a very young age. My ideology is that there is no such thing as a bad dog, just untrained owners.
In 2019 I decided to take my love for dogs one step further and settled on participating in a training apprenticeship. Where I was able to learn the nuances of several breed characteristics and canine psychology. During my apprenticeship I acquired the skills, in working with dogs who are highly reactive aka "aggressive" and those who also have a bite history. I know that reactive dogs are good dogs, and I am committed to helping both canine and owner live the best cohesive and fulfilling life together.
I during my training journey I was diagnosed with severe Anxiety and PTSD. This led to me learning about Service Dogs and how to train different tasks. Raven is my service dog she not only helps me to deal with my own Anxiety and PTSD she also assists me in training my clients canines as well. Being a Service Dog handler and trainer, I have the unique perspective of the real-life situations and how to navigate them. I have become well versed in The Americans with Disabilities Act, so that I can assist my clients in advocating for themselves and their rights as Service Dog handlers. Thus, my moto of "heeling pups and healing handlers". I understand first-hand the impact having a service dog can have on your life.
Most recently I have become fascinated by canine nutrition. I dehydrate my own treats and chews not only for my dog Raven, but for all of the pups I train. Our dogs are here for a short time, I intend to feed the highest quality food I can not only for high values treats, but for their overall health. In doing this I know I am adding years to my dog's life. I educate pet owners on the benefits of feeding more whole foods and not just kibble.
